Clothing & Gifts, From Farm to Boutique
The Alpaca Boutique is a family-owned and operated clothing and specialty store in Medina, OH, which branched off of our Majestic Meadows Alpacas farm that started when we purchased our first alpaca back in 1994. Visit The Alpaca Boutique on our farm and you’ll find a wonderful selection of women’s, men’s, babies and children’s clothing such as socks, scarves, gloves, hats, sweaters, jackets and more. We also carry a wide array of alpaca fiber products such as natural and dyed yarn as well as alpaca-themed gifts and decorations.
Why Alpacas?
The idea to buy our first alpaca came about because, first and foremost, we are animal lovers. After purchasing our first, we were so in love with our beautiful alpaca that we eventually purchased a few more! That led us to opening a farm for our growing herd so that we could start breeding alpacas on our own.
What started out as a love of animals has turned our world into breeding some of the country’s top award-winning alpacas. In fact, one of the first alpacas we bred here at the farm, Majestic Peruvian Jeremiah, became the first alpaca to ever win the prestigious Herdsire of the Year at the Futurity in both Light and Dark categories. Our farm is open to the public, welcoming visitors to come to see the beauty of our wonderful animals.
Alpaca Clothing & Gifts
Alpaca fiber is an incredibly durable and warm material making it the perfect resource for making clothing. Clothes that are made from alpaca fiber are softer than cashmere, warmer than wool, and do not have the itchy feel that often accompanies wool sweaters and socks.
The alpacas that reside on Majestic Meadows Alpacas and The Alpaca Boutique property are shorn once a year to collect their magnificent fiber and also to keep them healthy and comfortable. Alpacas are not harmed during this necessary shearing process. The alpaca fiber collected during shearing each year is utilized in the production of items specific to our store such as yarn, rugs and other handmade items. Additionally, a portion of our fiber each year is contributed to national fiber cooperatives to assist the US commercial fiber industry.
Purchasing clothes and gifts from The Alpaca Boutique is something you can feel good about. We are a local business that prides itself on the quality of the products in our boutique as well as our alpacas. Our products are made of the highest quality alpaca fiber and will last a lifetime with proper care.
What’s the Difference Between Alpacas & Llamas?
Alpacas are members of the camelid family. People often confuse alpacas with llamas. While closely related, llamas and alpacas are distinctly different animals. First, llamas are much larger, about twice the size of an alpaca, with an average weight of about 250 to 450 pounds, compared to an alpaca whose weight averages 100 to 200 pounds. Llamas are primarily used for packing or for guarding herds of sheep or alpacas, whereas alpacas are primarily raised for their soft and luxurious fleece making it a top choice for clothing and other alpaca-related products.
